stars wars cards

so 2016 and the start of a new crafting year
maybe i will actually get more done this year as 2015 was a sad sad case of affairs due to the cow getting a full time paid teaching job
which was "YAY!!!" for me but
"MEH" for my craft mojo and it went on a holiday

now it is school holidays and i get some time to get my craft on
i also have been getting my geek on with the latest star wars movie
so what better than to combine the 2
RIIIIIGHT??!!!
my first card was inspired by a sketch from retro sketches and the cool dsp stack going places and the stamp set grateful bunch

i used one piece of dsp as my death star and another for space. the sentiment is from the grateful bunch stamp set (quite a flowery set-not normally associated with stars wars lmao)
inside i used my rotary stamp to finish off my sentiment and punched and glued a pile of confetti stars

so my next stars wars inspired card was based on a CASE challenge over at the global design project blog #GDP016
bibi cameron had a shaker card design to CASE which i turned around and used
once again i used the sentiments from the grateful bunch set and just rearranged a la yoda :)

enjoy your holidays and wishing you many crafty thoughts in 2016

cheers ears

shaken ballerinas

another swap challenge
this time it had to be a shaker card and for a kids birthday

i used framelits labels to make the frame
and the ballerina is from talented trio
i also added some white sequins to the outside to add some sparkle.

if you hold the card and shake it then all these beautiful sequins and stars come out all over the ballerina
here is the same card minus the shaker card part and some bling.

butterflies

there is a funny story behind these cards. i made some cards for a swap a while back and thought i had sent them to their intended address.
they didn't arrive and totes blamed oz post and nz post
and so i decided to make some more so my swappees didn't miss out
..............seems i had let them fall down the side of my car (you know that annoying space between seat and middle console where all your crap goes) so now i have 2 cards for the same sketch lol
i didn't have much fabric left for these ones so only added a tiny bit to them
i also turned the sketch around to accomodate my swallowtail
for the stamped image i inked the image up with markers and then sprayed the stamp with water to make it all smudged together
i added some bling because...well...damn...who needs a reason really?!!!!

i added a tartan skirt from the adventure bound dsp
and the sentiment from happy birthday everyone.
handbag was made from my favourite retired label punch
shoes from the socking punch (also retired)

chillin' on the couch

totally cased this awesome card design
from lyn pratt
she does awesome stuff and
her water colours are fab as well
i just tweaked it a bit to make it my own
i used the adventure bound dsp to make the clothes have more texture including the throw rug on the back in tartan :)
couch is in tip top taupe
i also used some thread for the wool and used some earring findings for the knitting needles. i also added glasses to the sleeping granddad
i have used a few retired punches to make these guys-label, corner, and some ovals.
the circles are still current

to a good friend...thinking of you

needed a card for a nana today
and came up with this

loads of layers and simple colours and flowers and butterflies
simple design using some dsp on the background ad a little bit in the centre of the flowers

i used an embossing folder for some texture on the background
added some boho blossoms, bird punch and circles for the flowers
large scallop circle die that i pierced some holes in
cute little button with matching yellow cotton
for a little bit of whimsy i added in some string and some matching beads
not my normal kind of card
do you think i got my nana on enough?

dino.......rawr!!!!

i ALWAYS  have to buy the latest dinosaur stamp set...it is a given in my house with my dino-obsessed son
no bones about it is an awesome set with plenty of scope for fun stuff
here i have used the acorn punch to make a dinosaur-it is perfect for the head shape
i have used the tree builder punch for the arms and tail and the latest flower builder punch for the leaves
fringe scissors for the grass and chevron punch for the arrows

thanks

i belong to a monthly swap
and this month we had a sketch to follow
we also had some "given" objects the leader of the swap
had sent to us that we had to use on our cards.
i got fabric-some with lines on it and some with apples.
here is my swap

i used the stamped images from thankful forest friends in front of an embossed tree image
the apple fabric i cut out the images and sued them whilst the striped material was used for a banner strip on the side with a bit of lace added to it.
i made an extra card with the leftover scraps and the other sentiment from the set.
i also added some buttons and twine this time.

tribute to charlotte's web

every once in a while i get an idea in my head and want to make it into a card
the cute spider webby doilies from stampin up gave me the starting point for my web into a card in a box
from there i was able to add my charlottes web friendship quote and add a spider and add the cute halloween inspired dsp in the latest occasions catalogue
followed up with a feel good stamp about friendship

inspired by inside out

my kids have been at me for a while now
to recreate the characters from the
inside out movie as cards
so seeing i am on much needed school holidays i have had time to sit down,
chill out and
get creative with my punches

let me first say these characters were not easy to do.
and i had to use my punches in weird and wonderful ways
hence no instructions or tutorial sorry but will try and give you some of the stampin up  punches i used to give you an idea
disgust
punches used are 21/2" circle, 3/8" circle, bow tie, 3/4" circle, 1/2" circle, scallop 7/8" circle, owl
anger
punches used are 21/2" circle, 3/8" circle, bow tie, 3/4" circle, 1/2" circle, scallop 7/8" circle,
joy
punches used are 21/2" circle, 3/8" circle, bow tie, 3/4" circle, 1/2" circle,
 fear
punches used are 21/2" circle, 3/8" circle, bow tie, 3/4" circle, 1/2" circle, scallop 7/8" circle, large scallop circle, scallop oval
sadness
punches used are 21/2" circle, 3/8" circle, bow tie, 3/4" circle, 1/2" circle, 1" circle, 11/4" circle

lettering was all done with
little letters thinlits except for anger
-his i did freehand
(oh i wish there were thinlits for those symbols!!)

disgust had sticky out glittered eyelashes and her mouth was super dooper tricky
the joy card also had joy from the berry merry stamp set in the background
sadness' glasses were done by punching 1" circle first then the 11/4" circle around it.
anger's fingers were done with a scallop oval punch

enjoy
share
and if i have inspired you to make your own please share a link so i can see where ti took you and if you have any hints for me making them a second time around

...and tell me which one is your favourite character from the movie...personally i loved sadness-she was just adorable!!!
